Program Overview
Nisga’a Summer Training (Gitwinksihlkw Youth Filmmaking & Tourism Mentorship Program!)
This is your central hub for the program — a place to access resources, updates, assignments, and support throughout your journey.
Over these 8 weeks, you’ll learn how to plan, shoot, and edit your own short films, tell powerful stories about Gitwinksihlkw, and gain real-world experience in filmmaking, tourism promotion, and creative entrepreneurship.
You’ll:
Work with professional cameras, drones, and audio gear
Learn how to interview Elders and community members
Create your own short documentaries and promo videos
Explore how social media and filmmaking can support tourism
Work as a team and on your own to complete real projects
Keep your gear at the end if you complete the program!

Patrick is a Haida filmmaker and creative mentor from Skidegate. He runs InnoNative and has worked across film, photography, and design to tell Indigenous stories. He’s here to help you build your skills, tell your own stories, and have fun doing it.
Kelly Kenny
Program Manager kelly@innonative.ca
Kelly is a Nisg̱a’a radio host and film producer with deep roots in community media. She’s produced documentaries, hosted radio shows, and supported creative projects across the region. For this program, she’s leading logistics and coordination — making sure everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
